What you need to know before your next fishing trip

Here are a few things you should know to have the best guided fishing trip at the Fraser River Lodge

Check the weather before you leave.

The Lower Mainland is known for its rain, however, the summers can be very hot and dry. Make sure you check the weather and dress accordingly. We suggest lots of layers. A pair of shorts, a t-shirt, a sweater, pants, and a jacket are great items to have no matter the season. You may be cool in the morning and warm in the afternoon, by having layers that you can take on and off you will always be at a good temperature. The Lodge has waders and raincoats as well as fishing boots for guests.  In the summer you can bring a swimsuit if you think you’ll want to hop in the river to cool down. In the winter we definitely recommend gloves, toques, and warm clothing.

Food!

What are you going to have for food? Well, this depends on if you purchased a bbq lunch along with your fishing trip. The Fraser River Lodge offers a gourmet bbq lunch for all fishing guests. The fishing guide will cook it for you right on the boat or on the river bank. Water bottles are always available on board for guests but coolers can also be filled with the guests' drink of choice if purchased ahead of time. If you are a picky eater or have allergies let the Lodge know, and we can alter the bbq lunch to your liking. There is always more than enough food for the guests, however, you can pack yourself a snack if you are worried about feeling hungry on the 8-hour fishing trip. Once you are back at the Lodge after a long day of fishing you can have a gourmet dinner, again this is something you’ll have to schedule in advance. If you aren’t having dinner at the Lodge there are a lot of great restaurants in Agassiz which is a 5-minute drive from the Lodge or you can head out to Harrison Hot Springs which is 10 minutes away.

The Outpost and Homestead Chalet have fully equipped gourmet kitchens, this is great to keep in mind if you plan on cooking a few of your own meals.
